I turned the radio on in my car today for the first time in a pretty long time. I choose not to listen to the radio for the most part (aside from classic rock, 90’s alt and talk radio from time to time) because I find “radio” music to be pretty shallow and thoughtless….both musically and lyrically. My sentiments were not only confirmed but compounded today. Here are some of the amazing lyrics I heard.
Nickelback
You naughty thing You’re ripping up the dance floor honey You naughty women You shake your ass around for everyone You’re such a mover I love the way you dance with anybody The way you swing And tease them all by sucking on your thumb Your so much cooler when you never pull it out Cause you look so much cuter with Something in Your Mouth
Buckcherry
i’m gettin drunk all night ohohoh i’m gettin drunk all day ooh i’m gettin drunk all night i’m sorry but i have to say, i’m too drunk to f**k.
Pink
No No I don’t want you tonight
You weren’t there, I’m gonna show you tonight
I’m ok, I’m alright and you’re just a tool
And to think that these people are paid millions of dollars to come up with this ingenious bs. The fact that the world loves it and sings along baffles me to this day.
Thank you Brandon Welch for thinking about things before you say them and not writing lyrics simply to cater to a world of “teenaged adult” music listeners. Touche.
I have a mansion but forget the price Ain’t never been there, they tell me its nice I live in hotels, tear out the walls I have accountants pay for it all
They say I’m crazy but I have a have a good time I’m just looking for clues at the scene of the crime Life’s been good to me so far
My Maseratti does one-eighty-five I lost my license, now I don’t drive I have a limo, ride in the back I lock the doors in case I’m attacked
I’m making records, my fans they can’t wait They write me letters, tell me I’m great So I got me an office, gold records on the wall Just leave a message, maybe I’ll call
Lucky I’m sane after all I’ve been through I can’t complain but sometimes I still do Life’s been good to me so far
I go to parties sometimes until four It’s hard to leave when you can’t find the door It’s tough to handle this fortune and fame Everybody’s so different, I haven’t changed
They say I’m lazy but it takes all my time I keep on goin’ guess I’ll never know why Life’s been good to me so far
Asheville is up there. So, tomorrow, make your way there. Eat their food, see their city and then go to Stella Blue and watch us play. Doors are at sometime and you’ll have to pay some money.
I do know for SURE that we’ll be there. We’ll plug stuff into to stuff and then we’ll do stuff that’s louder than conversational volumes. That we will do.
The Lantern, Tomorrow Night (Nov 11th), we’re playing some rock and roll. Unleashing a few new songs never before played in public. That’s right. Exciting stuff. Be there or I will hate you. Promised.
We’ll be playing stuff from Turn To the Bright, Everyone Is Out To Get Us and A Toast To Bad Taste. Come out and be Halloween’y with us. You should dress up like “a fan of our band” and we’re going to be dressing up as the band Far-Less. Should be hilarious.
Trick or Treat, Smell my feet, Give me something good to eat.
Doors will open sometime between 7am - 11pm and it will cost somewhere between $0.01 and $1,000.00 for admission. Age Limits = Conception - Corpse.
We will stand in front of you with instruments and try to recreate what we have fed into a computer and arranged in various ways. Sounds crazy…i know…but trust us. We will call these experiments “SHOWS.”
